Washington reports Lawrence F. OBrien a leading political strategist endorsed Senator Robert F. Kennedy for the Democratic presidential nomination. He plans to join Kennedy's campaign team once his divorce from the Johnson administration is finalized.
LAWRENCE F. O Brien said a Presidential commission will recommend transferring the Post Office Department to a nonprofit government corporation run like a private business. He suggested a TVA-like model to manage mail using current workers, with a professional executive core. He will support Kennedy’s bid and plans for life after leaving the cabinet are discussed.
Health staff representatives reported on sex education efforts for grades kindergarten through high school in Bennington. They cited current curricula, parental permission, and administrative constraints, urging teacher training and a gradual community approach with clergy and parent involvement.
Washington says U S and North Vietnam plan initial talks in Warsaw within a week to lay a basis for broad peace negotiations. Harriman will be joined by two or three advisers including Cyrus Vance to discuss possible limits on air attacks and reconnaissance.
