Portable nylon and plastic breakwater for artificial harbors
United States Rubber Company developed a portable breakwater using urethane float panels and vinyl coated nylon curtains. Tested by U S Navy and University of Minnesota, it anchors at sea and landward sides. Miller says heavier panels could quell 10 foot waves and cost a quarter of rock breakwaters, enabling artificial harbors on the west coast.
