Rotarians hear of guidance at MAUHS

Bennington Rotarians heard Mount Anthony Union High School guidance programs help students decide for the future before graduation. Rotary District 787 conference opens in Woodstock

Alout and another Berrington Rotary Club member depart for Woodstock for the Vermont New Hampshire Rotary District 787 two day conference. Alden J. Tallby of Rutland presides and will be nominated to succeed as district governor for 1972-73. election occurs at Rotary International’s 1972 Houston convention. The Vermont New Hampshire district covers 38 clubs and about 1,804 Rotarians.

Vermont tops list as nation’s top magnet state

The Greater Vermont Association says Vermont remains the No. 1 magnet state for moving in, marking its third straight year in the lead. New York and North Dakota are listed as the biggest losers for inbound moves.

Connecticut lets Quebec Lakes off the hook on fraud charges

The Connecticut Real Estate Commission dropped three charges against Quebec Lakes Corp of Vermont after a Thursday hearing. The firm admitted four other allegations, including failure to file certain redevelopment changes and improper agent licensing. A Hamden agent conceded missing documents on condominiums and promoting total acreage as 6,000 when 5,470 were reported. The firm may continue business in Connecticut while the commission decides further action.

Maple season looks better in Vermont, state reports

MONTPELIER The state Agriculture Department said maple sugaring is under way across Vermont. Warmer areas in Bennington and Windham counties report good production raising optimism for an average season. Weather improved after a slow start, most syrup is Fancy and Grade A, and snow remains deep in higher elevations. Producers are reasonably optimistic with no damaging warmth so far.

Funeral notices for Mrs Mary Delude Mrs Leola Harris and Mrs Theresa Smith

The funerals for Mrs Mary Delude of 327 School St widow of Honorie Delude were held at Sacred Heart Church with Rev Charles Wallen officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in spring with relatives from Jamaica N Y Oxford Sturbridge North Adams Manchester NH and surrounding areas attending. Also funeral services for Mrs Leola M Harris of 332 Safford St widow of John H P Harris were conducted by Rev Richard D Campbell at Mahar & Son with entombment at Park Lawn Chapel and burial in South Shattabbry Cemetery later. Relatives attended from Horhhester Buskirk Cambridge N Y Essex Junction and nearby areas. The funeral for Mrs Theresa Smith widow of Albert E Smith took place at Sacred Heart Church with Rev Wallen and a Mahar & Son wake service. burial was in Assumption Cemetery Syracuse N Y.
