Court backs up Malloy pardon of Tatro
Vermont Supreme Court upholds that a governor pardon removes legal punishments and disqualifications. The decision confirms Motor Vehicle Commissioner Malloy acted properly in issuing a license to Burton Tatro after his pardon for drunken driving. The Brown estate had sued for negligence seeking $180,000, arguing the license should have been withheld.
