UPI reports Sen. Eugene McCarthy defeats the Johnson write ins as he seizes 57 percent of Wisconsin Democratic votes and 49 of 59 convention delegates. Richard Nixon dominates Republican balloting with 80 percent and all 30 delegates. Reagan appears on ballot for first time. Kennedy gains about 5 percent write ins.

Former Peru Town Clerk Sentenced for Neglect of Duties
The former Peru town clerk and treasurer, Shirley Holton, 37, was sentenced to 6 to 12 months in the Women's Reformatory in Bennington after pleading guilty to wilful neglect of duties as town treasurer. Judge Morrissey suspended the sentence and placed her on probation. State's Atty. Carmody said Holton wrote checks payable to herself and deposited them. restitution has been made to the town. The case followed discovery of a $1,880 gravel entry with no invoice, and a check payable to Holton found in the town books. Town officials faced pressure at the March town meeting over the affair.
