Campbell Won't Desert NHL Job Denies Rumors
In Montreal UPI, NHL President Clarence Campbell, 69, says he has no plans to resign but would walk out if the board opened the door. He cites pressure over violence and expansion and notes calls for his ouster by Bobby Clarke and others. He argues violence is limited and tied to fan interest, and notes higher salaries may reduce on-ice aggression.
