Globe-Union talks reach stalemate at Bennington plant

Negotiations between Globe-Union Inc and Local 1371 UAW at the Bennington plant have stalled after 16 meetings since last December. The union accuses the company of bargaining in bad faith and seeks plantwide seniority and wage provisions, while management insists on a full, integrated contract and rejects rehashing past discussions. A union meeting next week could include possible strike actions, though leaders urge restraint as charges of unfair labor practices are filed with the NLRB.
