At the Benalla Memorial Hall annual meeting presided by Dr. W Say the committee reported a strong position with £533 in credit and £700 in Commonwealth Bonds. Receipts included hall hires and dances while major expenditures covered wages gas and light and repairs. An order for a new floor was placed with Benalla Building Supplies for Tasmanian hardwood.

At Monday's meeting the Shire Council debated opposing the proposed bus route after a letter from the Transport Regulation Board. Benalla Waterworks Trust Plans £1309 Mains Installations

At a Monday meeting the Benalla Waterworks Trust approved applying to the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission for permission to install water mains in town. The project costs £1309 and will serve 22 new homes on land south of Thomas Street and extend mains in Market Street and Egmont Street. The Ride’s estate block opposite Mr McCartney’s house on Egmont Street is the site of the Commission homes.

New Car for Shire Engineer Accepted by Council

Benalla Shire councillors accepted DD Br McPherson’s offer to exchange the present engineer’s car for a new Ford valued at 873. Delivery guaranteed within four weeks. Dr Wallace called it a wonderfully good proposition while Dr MacGregor joked the old car should have a distinguishing mark.
