Jim Callow In New Home And Fundraising Appeal

Benalla Camera Club Notes Courtship of a New Lectures

Benalla Camera Club held a meeting to reveal an instructional course in platography. The lectures will be of immense value to the club and will allmue late interest. Curtains at the club house were donated by Mrs and Mrs Jon Mason. Mrs Oxtorne and Mr Uied showed overseas films. Members welcomed the next screening of colored slides from their repeat holiday.

Fines levied on seven men by S.M. court at Benalla

Justice proceedings heard by Mr H C Everard on behalf of the C.R.B. Ber eer Ware and Senior Hite abie J. Hiyvan prosecuted seven men for varied offences including overloaded timber jinkers, obstructing a highway semitrailer, and driving without permits. Fines ranged from £2 6s to £5 with several defendants ordered to pay costs.

Found Dead In Hut At Camp

Hoffman, a married man, was found dead in a hut at the Hold ine Centre camp yesterday morning. Police say he had been in residence four weeks and was last seen alive earlier. Otto Jungbeaur, a Genze employee, alerted authorities. Dr. W T J Alexander examined him and a post mortem was ordered at Wenge aralla Tae Hospital. An inquest will be held.

Prominent Citizen Leo Crawford to Leave Benalla

Leo Crawford, a long time Benalla figure and leader in local clubs, will depart the district within weeks after selling his dental practice to Raymond Johnston. A former president of the Benalla Lawn Tennis Club and Golf Club, he also served Apex Rotary and St Patrick's clubs. He plans a trip abroad early next year before resuming practice in Melbourne.

Car Smash In Violet Town Involves Constable Barratt

Senior-Constable Barratt of Footscray and his wife were in a single vehicle crash at Violet Town on the long weekend. The Holden overturned several times after it was allegedly struck by a passenger bus. Both escaped serious injury and were taken to Melbourne by ambulance. the car was badly damaged.

Move For New Hall at Thoona

Following a public meeting at Thoona a committee plans the erection of a Memorial Hall within months. The group, led by President Arthur Irvine, aims to use a £1,500 grant with £4,405 on hand and may start soon, possibly at the old tennis courts or Main Street. A. J. Martin elected president, H Jones secretary, and Lindholm treasurer.

Big Farewell To Mr R. McLellan

More than 200 teachers and their wives bid farewell to District Inspector Mr St P McLellan and Mrs McLellan at Wangaratta last night. The event drew many from Benalla Wangaratta Tafts Yarrawonga Violet Town Chiliers Rutherglen Strathmerton and nearby towns. McLellan soon takes the post of district officer in Lilydale.
