Drowning Tragedy Body Found in Reeds After Two Hour Search
A man identified as Walter Ernest John Rees drowned after his body was recovered from waters eight feet deep among lilies near the eastern bank. Police and volunteers conducted a two hour search, with recovery aided by a passerby and two nurses. An inquest was opened and adjourned. post mortem planned at Wangaratta Base Hospital.

New president Mr FE Hammond leads Benalla Gun Club with a slate of office-bearers including vice-presidents Messrs J Plum V Littl S Smith J Little J Meadows J hor ge, secretary Mr J treasurer Mr KK Firth and delegates to associations. The annual report notes shoots including a 250 pigeon handicap, strong early support, declining attendance later, and a successful Christmas Shoot.
