The Benalla Cricket Association premiers held their annual meeting at Walker's Sports Store. Plans include preparing a turf wicket at the Friendly Societies Ground for the coming season and seeking authorit ies approval. 1890 Flag Used At St James Coursing Meet

The Western District flag once used by the noted judge Shelton was flown by his son Tom Shelton of Colac at the St James coursing meeting last week. Shelton judged for the first time at St James and earned praise over three days. He accepted an invitation to return next year for the big classic alongside veteran slipper Charles Tonkein amid strong hospitality from St James. This year St James set records with attendances near 600 on the main coursing day.

Four Men Escape Serious Injury In Tatong Road Crash

A utility driven by W Knight with passengers L Knight Les Smith and his brother overturned on a bend near Whytlaw's on the Tatong road. The rear was crushed and one body injured on the off side. It was towed away next morning almost a complete wreck.

Fatality at Railway Station Involving Porter Raymond Thompson

Raymond Thompson a 72 year old porter of 14 Goulburn Street Seymour died Wednesday evening after falling into a pit between railway lines in the yards. He did not report for duty on the Benulla Yarreworen tract and was found in the pit shortly after. Police and railway staff are investigating the extraordinary accident.
