Navy carrier Saratoga fire under investigation in Norfolk

The Navy says investigators could determine the fire's cause and extent in days aboard the carrier Saratoga after a weekend blaze confined to the third deck. No injuries were reported among 450 crewmen. the ship has been at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for overhaul since March.

Pioneer Bemidji hosts 800 high school journalists

Plans are set for the 27th annual Pioneer Bemidji State College high school journalism conference with 42 northern Minnesota schools registered. Over 800 student staffers and advisers from Lake Superior to North Dakota and beyond will attend for training in reporting make-up photography writing and more. Notable speakers include Linda Kohl of the St Paul Pioneer Press and Lewis Cope of the Minneapolis Tribune. The event includes an editorial contest on credibility with awards for the top three entries.
