Services Fare prepares Bemidji Saturday event
Bemidji area service organizations plan a Community Services Fare along Beltrami Avenue on Saturday September 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. About 40 booths will share literature and describe available services while entertainment by local groups adds to the event. Organizers credit the idea to Town and Country Days and note backing from the Chamber of Commerce Bemidji State College and First Lutheran Church.

Six sextuplets born at Colorado General Hospital
Three of the six Stanek children born Sunday night at Colorado General Hospital faced respiratory problems and required oxygen. The sextuplets weigh about two to three pounds. three boys are in satisfactory condition, while two girls and one boy are in fair to satisfactory condition. Fisheries building burglarized near Bemidji weekend theft
The Minnesota Fisheries building near the State rearing ponds north of Bemidji was burglarized over the weekend. Howard Latvala itemized $2,111 in losses including three 9.12 horsepower Evinrude motors, a 6 horsepower Evinrude, mower, tires, generator, rifle, ice auger, regulators, pump, and tools. The sheriff's department and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigated the case.

Drownings Reported in Northern Minnesota Lakes
Two men drowned in weekend boating incidents on northern Minnesota lakes. Gerald Bertram, 20, of International Falls, vanished after his boat swamped on Rainy Lake on the Canadian side. two companions were recovered on an island. An Iowa man also drowned while fishing at Lake of the Woods near Baudette.
