In Battle Lake Minnesota AP reports Erick Johnson 86 continues to pursue a perpetual motion machine despite 70 years of attempts. A farmer and former railroad worker Johnson began the quest at 14 after hearing of a local effort. He built a wheel driven device in a shed behind his home using bicycle wheels and springs hoping to trigger endless motion.

Lowmasters Rabbits Dominate at Minnesota State Fair

The Jim Lowmaster family won Best In Show with their New Zealand white junior doe at the Minnesota State Fair. The same rabbit was named Best of Breed and Best Commercial Rabbit while the Lowmasters earned multiple firsts across several NZ white and other varieties. Judging by Don Reid occurred Sept 1 2 at the six state fair with over 75 exhibitors and 600 rabbits. The hobby rabbitry sits southwest of Turtle River on Highway 71.

Miss America 1974 Starts Year With Newsmen Lessons
