A Northwest Airlines Boeing 727 hijacker conferred as D B Cooper bailed out with 200000 from Seattle bound flight to Mexico during a dramatic aid drop. He vanished in the Woodland Washington area as helicopters hunted the Cascade foothills. Authorities doubted quick capture, noting the suspect was tall slim in his mid forties and used the Cooper alias when boarding in Portland.
Officials retook Rahway State Prison in New Jersey after 500 inmates agreed to a nonviolent settlement. Hostages were released on Thanksgiving night in return for no reprisals and access to grievances. Eight lawyers led by Stanley C. Eugene McCarthy former Minnesota Senator will address an audience at Bemidji High School auditorium at 10 30 a m on political participation The program starts at 9 30 a m with band music and a voter registration speech by Bemidji State College student body president Dave Sorensen Edwin Demery will introduce McCarthy The event is free and open to the public.

Travel warnings issued across extreme southern Minnesota and northwestern Iowa due to slushy snow as conditions worsen before night.
