CHICAGO AP First payments to state and local governments under the new revenue-sharing act will be mailed to eligible local units. Caspar Weinberger told seven Midwestern administrators that about half of the 5.3 billion for 1972 is paid now, with the rest to be distributed in early January. Area youth held in shooting near Watkins fire
In Litchfield Minnesota area authorities kept 19 year old Fosston man in custody as probe continued into the shooting death of a Watkins man and wounding of a youth. Bail set at 25000. The youngster found Monday with two gunshot wounds in the family barn where his father David Mies lay fatally shot. The wounded youth listed in serious condition at a St Cloud hospital. Wichern arrested by the Highway Patrol Monday at a service station in Audubon eight miles west of Detroit Lakes and about 100 miles north of Watkins. Meeker County attorney Thomas Nagel declined to elaborate on possible motives. Earlier, authorities had said the man sought for questioning had worked at one time for the Mies family.

The Beltrami County Board of Commissioners approved buying a Caterpillar motor grader from Ziegler Inc with a net bid of 33,082 after trade-in. They also accepted a Blue Cross Blue Shield hospital and medical insurance contract for county employees for 1973 at 16.22 per month for individuals and 25.71 for family plans, with a 50 deductible.
