Bemidji School Board adopts fuel crisis conservation plan
In a November 21 1973 Bemidji District No 31 meeting the board approved a fuel conservation and building protection policy for immediate use. It sets classroom 68 degree average, hallways 50, gymnasiums and auditorium 50, encourages tunnel use, keeps windows closed, assigns extra curriculars to a few schools, limits buses to 50 mph, closes inner doors, and switches off unnecessary lights with provisions for future curtailments and emergency protection if the crisis worsens.

Beltrami County Court Hears Several Motions and Bonds
Michael N. Olson waived preliminary hearing and was bound over to District Court on illegal entry and theft charges. Gary Barrer forfeited a $25 bond on disobeying a stop sign. Karsten Werke forfeited a $50 bond on transporting a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle. Art Johnson charged with setting a white fish net in water deeper than six feet. Robert Holum pleaded guilty to taking deer in closed season and was fined $300 or 90 days in jail. Charles Harrell bound over to District Court on ten counts of felonious assault after a Tuesday preliminary hearing.

Stanley Bly a Bemidji native died unexpectedly in Everett Washington. He was a World War II veteran painter and is survived by his wife Rose three sons Stanley Jr Steven and Michael all of Everett five brothers Roy Olaf Lawrence Earl and Clarence and two sisters Myrtle Johnson and Ruby Ely. Olaf Bly of Bemidji plans to attend the Everett service.

County timber offered to area residents
Beltrami County residents may obtain fuel wood from county timber land with permits issued by the Land Commission. In six months 29 permits were issued at the courthouse basement office. Wood types include birch maple oak with tamarack smaller, prices 50 cents per cord for down timber and tops, $1 per cord for standing green timber.
