Question about why Gray Ladies are not invited to a county volunteer dinner. Beltrami County Welfare Department says Gray Ladies are organized under the Red Cross, not the county volunteer program, and they hold a separate Red Cross recognition tea. A joint county dinner could be considered.
Beltrami County reports 43 of 58 new jobs created under the Emergency Employment Act of 1971 have been filled. The program uses 264,800 dollars in federal funds to cover about 90 percent of salaries, with local agencies funding the rest. The two year program ends Aug 22 1973 unless unemployment falls for three straight months. Vietnam era veterans receive hiring preference. The city of Bemidji added five positions and Beltrami County plans 36 new hires across various offices including nursing, zoning, forestry, road work, and clerical roles.
