State pays tax credits to county and local units

The County Treasurer Doris Garlock reported two checks from the state treasurer totaling about 240000 dollars. A 186753 dollar homestead credit came from sales tax funds for the last half of 1972, while 53000 dollars per capita local government aid will go to county funds for roads buildings and mental health. Real estate tax processing for the current year’s last half is complete and receipts mailed, with an eight percent penalty for post deadline payments. The total real estate tax take will be known after accounts are balanced.

Gun mishap injures man near Hubbard County road 9

A Cass Lake man Harold Klein was hospitalized in Bemidji in fair condition after a 22 caliber handgun he carried discharged at 4 10 p m Wednesday near Hubbard County road 9 east of Navy. Minnesota Highway Patrol agent Max Engle said Klein suffered an upper leg wound as patrol, Cass LakePolice and Hubbard County Sheriff officers investigated the shooting.
