Man Held After Cass Lake Shooting Death

A Minneapolis man faces arraignment in Cass Lake Municipal Court this afternoon on a complaint tied to the shooting death of 23 year old Francis Munnell of Cass Lake. Clifford G. Howard 21 was held after the 2 30 a m Saturday incident in a private Cass Lake residence. Munnell died of a chest wound at Cass Lake Indian Hospital at 3 05 a m. A grand jury will be convened after the arraignment. Munnell was step son of David Munnell chairman of the Leech Lake Reservation Business Committee.

Prayer bill in close House vote faces constitutional amendment

Washington AP reports a tight House vote on a proposed constitutional amendment to permit prayers in public schools. Two injured in two car collision near Bemidji

A two car collision on Highway 71 north of Bemidji early Sunday injured two people and damaged both vehicles. William Glidden and Janana Parrish of Bemidji were treated and released at Bemidji Hospital. A separate crash near Solway left Bemidji resident Margaret Wayne with slight injuries after her car hit a stalled Volkswagen owned by Michael Kelly of Murray Utah.
