Minnesota youths canoe for MS research along Mississippi

Minnesota teens Tom Davis and Dennis Anderson plan a 2400 mile Mississippi River journey from Itasca State Park to New Orleans to raise funds for multiple sclerosis research. They will visit about 15 cities, inviting pledges at each stop and hope to raise five thousand dollars in Bemidji.

Tornadoes devastate Ankeny area killing two in Des Moines suburb

A series of central Iowa tornadoes struck Ankeny and Pleasant Hill, killing Mr and Mrs Wallace White of Ankeny and injuring at least 10. The Des Moines suburb was described as a battleground with roofs lifted and debris everywhere as the National Guard and state patrol set up an emergency medical center.

District 31 approves $100000 three stall bus garage

At the regular meeting the District 31 School Board awarded over $100,000 for a new bus garage and maintenance facility. Christensen Construction won the general bid, Hanny Electric the electrical bid, and Knapp Grover the mechanical bid. The project will be near the Gilfillan Center on 15th Street with work starting this summer.

Nuclear shortage threatens Egypt Israel nuclear aid and plants
