The Beltrami County Historical Society will hold its annual meeting on Sunday June 20 at 2 p.m. in the Northland Apartments activity room Bemidji. Dr William Sellon will preside and three directors will be elected. Morris Blackburn will discuss wild rice history with slides followed by a social hour. Members should pay annual dues of 1 dollar to the secretary Box 693 Bemidji.

The Northern Artists Association holds its regular monthly business meeting Thursday at 7 30 p m in the Bemidji Laundry Building. Plans discuss an Arts and Craft show June 19 at the Sports Arena and the Bookcraft Art Show, plus possible classes trips and a permanent sale exhibit. Slides of nature will follow with a social hour and refreshments. An engagement announcement follows for Rebecca Jean Rogers and Ronald Warren Gottschall with a wedding planned August 20 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George Iowa.
Bemidji Seventh-day Adventist church leaders prepare for a nine day Minnesota Conference camp meeting at Maplewood Academy Hutchinson beginning June 18. About 2 000 attendees are expected with daily activities from 8 30 a m to 9 p m and on site facilities including cafeteria bookstore and first aid. John Alvin Grover of International Falls has enlisted in the U S Navy and is undergoing recruit training in San Diego after enlisting at Bemidji recruiting station.
Funeral services are set for William Kaiser 82 of Bemidji at Calvary Lutheran Church with burial in Calvary cemetery. He died at Bemidji hospital and is survived by his wife and three sons. Thomas Knutson of Grygla will have services at First Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood cemetery. He lived in Grygla and Bemidji and is survived by children and many grandchildren.
The week lists multiple hospital admissions in Bemidji and surrounding towns including Mrs. George Larson and Mrs. Edith Sorenson among others, with discharges noted for Ronald Bowstring and Tracey Dingle. A death notice for Mrs. Arthur Roppe prompts funeral plans in Minneapolis, while local trips include the Setersdalaget event in Oklee and a student’s admission to the College of St. Benedict. Linda Kopischke, Bemidji native, enrolls as a freshman for 1971-72 with summer orientation planned.
The program seeks Big Brothers for fatherless boys aged four to 17 offering a fun two hour weekly match. Also requests Big Sisters and volunteers for chauffeur work with mentally challenged and elderly individuals. For information call Jim Kvam at 751 8640.
Gifts to the Heart Fund in memory of late Bemidji residents Irene Kaliher and R V Anderson will fund heart disease research. John H. McKee of Beltrami County Minnesota Heart Association announced the memorial gifts last month.
A Sunday picnic and get together at Grant Lake gathered Leroy Myhre relatives vacationing nearby. Attendees included Leroy and wife, Clinton and Alan of Stacy, the Marvin Myhre family of Circle Pines, and numerous Myhre and Ness households from Wilton, Park Rapids, Fridley, Sunbury, and Bemidji.
