LaRue ties Mitchell and Dean to grand Watergate coverup
Former Nixon aide Frederick C. LaRue testified before the Senate Watergate committee that he Mitchell and Dean were aware of a grand cover-up to hide Watergate wiretap facts. He described a $75,000 payment and $12,000 in cash, and said Dean would not authorize the final payment, urging contact with Mitchell.

Thirty five area residents and organizations have registered for Bemidji area Town and Country Days on August 18. Co chairmen say there will be a wide variety of items from handicraft to garden produce though a shortage of farm products is noted. Hostage siege at Athens office and hotel raises tensions

Anderson Fails Catch During Leech Reservation Visit
Gov. Wendell Anderson fished at the Leech Indian Reservation but did not catch a fish during a six hour visit. He accepted a three foot pipe from Chippewas for the hunting and fishing agreement which charges visitors a $1 fee to fish hunt or harvest wild rice to fund reservation development. Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Robert Herbst accompanied Anderson and estimated the new tax could yield $100000 this year and as much as $250000 in future years.
