Darlene Gary Schoonover served 11 of 13 years as the Drum & Eagle Corps chief figure, first as a player and later as the corps only drum major. New leaders Alan Sacks and Zola Belle Holmes Bleth appeared likely in 1939, expanding the youthful cadre.
About 30 past members of the Bemidji Drum and Bugle Corps plan a July 34 reunion. They will march behind the American Legion Honor Guard on the Fourth of July parade, though most will not play. A July 3 registration and reception at the Holiday Inn precedes a July 4 dinner at the American Legion Club.
