About 750 people joined the Bemidji Civil Air Patrol Derby on Lake Bemidji. Morris Bergsven won the biggest fish with a 30 ounce northern. Other catches included walleye and perch. prizes ranged from an electric trolling motor to a 40 horsepower air cycle, TV, stereo, bicycle and sled amid slushy ice.
Spyridon Moustaklis, partially paralyzed and nearly speechless, is going home from Walter Reed after weeks of treatment for torture endured under Greece's former military regime. His hospital stay followed a U.S. campaign by Greek exile leaders and some lawmakers. A separate Miami note reports on banker David Brickes turning to weekend auto repair work at do it yourself garages, reflecting a growing hobbyist trade.

A special board will begin the selection Tuesday to fill the Fourth District Commissioner seat for a two year term. The appointment group includes township chairmen and village mayors from Battle to Woodrow and Blackduck to Kelliher. The deceased Carl Falk created the vacancy with his death on December 31, 1974. The meeting at 10 a.m. January 28 will be in the county auditor's office and then in the district courtroom in the new annex, open to the public.
