New Year’s Eve slide ends in tragedy near Rapid City
Ingrid Brogden, 14, died when she and Karen O’Neill, 18, slid down a hill and went over a 40 foot cliff on U.S. Highway 4 near the city edge. O’Neill was hospitalized with a broken leg and other injuries and was in satisfactory condition. Authorities said the girls were walking along a ridge outside Rapid City about 1 15 pm before deciding to slide.
