City Liquor Store Talks Move Toward Compromise
The first session between the city and liquor store employees ended without a deal but with significant movement from both sides. Wages for a three year contract are narrowing. city proposals start at seven percent, six and eight percent, union counter asks 11, seven and nine. A follow up session is set for Monday February 16. Discussions cover seniority days off paid lunch breaks and fair share of negotiating costs. The City Council will again review the Highway 2 West zoning after February 198? meeting where the planning commission’s original recommendation was returned. Discrepancies over a parcel west of the fairgrounds owned by Stuart's Inc. helped pause the proposal. The council previously rejected the measure following a technical assessment that the area lies in Bay zone A and not suitable for building. The agenda also includes liquor license actions, human rights and bicentennial reports, sewer location discuss with West Nymore residents, and several city business items.
