Vietnam post offices restrict mail to Vietnam military posts

DoD asks USPS to limit acceptance of personal mail to Vietnam military post offices. Most mail classes end immediately. only letter mail remains after Feb 5 1973 with delivery by March 1 1973. FPO 96626 may accept letter mail until further notice.

Viet Cong General Transferred By U S Helicopters

U S helicopters rendezvoused in a jungle area to pick up Tran Van Tra the Viet Cong general behind the 1968 Tet offensive and flew him back to join a peacekeeping mission. The weekly casualty summary shows 45941 Americans died in action in Indochina from Jan 1 1961 to the cease-fire start last Sunday with 300635 wounded and 1811 missing or captured. An additional 10303 died from nonhostile causes. The tally excludes one death and five wounded after the truce began.

Nixon plans Kissinger trip to Hanoi and Thieu talks

President Nixon announced Henry Kissinger will visit Hanoi February 10 to 13 to push continuing peace in Vietnam and will meet South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu in San Clemente this spring. He cited recon struction in Indochina as a potential investment in peace and said Congress must decide on funds, estimated at 7.5 billion dollars.

Lt. Fred E. O'Brien of Dennisport mass alleges mutiny and racial violence aboard the carrier Intrepid in letters to senators Kennedy and Brooke.
