Three Fryer brothers charged with four counts of murder in the November 17 slayings of four South Dakota teenagers will go directly to district court in Rock Rapids Iowa. Allen Fryer James and David face $400000 bonds and are to appear before Judge E F Kennedy next Thursday. James remains jailed in Sioux Falls serving a 90 day sentence for attempted grand larceny awaiting transfer.
Postmaster Harold Fruetel says the Bemidji Post Office will follow a Saturday schedule on Monday December 31 with counter hours 8 30 to 10 am for parcels and stamps. Normal city and rural mail delivery occurs. The office closes all day Tuesday January 1 1974.

Ramsey County District Court Judge Harold Schultz ruled the Liquor Reform Act of 1973 constitutional. The act ends brand monopolies by ten Minnesota liquor wholesalers and is deemed a legal exercise of police powers.

Seven persons face arraignment in Cass County Court over a jail break at Cass Lake early Thursday. Police say four men forced entry, released three prisoners, stole guns, and sparked a four hour chase before all seven were jailed in Walker pending arraignment.
At a Bemidji Chamber meeting on December 27, leaders proposed a temporary fuel coordinator for the city, a joint city county coordinator, and an energy committee dominated by fuel, gas and electric suppliers. The group urged immediate action to aid families without fuel and to ensure emergency vehicles can obtain gasoline.
