Fire destroys home and belongings near Bagley
A farm fire four miles north of the Ebro Corner destroyed the Carter Knutsons home and belongings on Thursday afternoon December 20. Mrs Knutsons sister babysat the two girls while neighbors were called for help as the Clearbrook and Bagley Fire Departments arrived too late. A clothing drive will aid the family with donations accepted at The Farmers Independent Office in Bagley. The Knutsons children are ages four and one and a half. adults sizes 38 and 18.

27 Bodies Found From Sunken Oriental Monarch
In Victoria British Columbia the Canadian Search and Rescue HQ says 27 crewmen from the freighter Oriental Monarch were found dead Thursday night about 15 miles east of the wreck site. They were in a 500 yard radius, all wearing life jackets, as 13 others remain missing in 30 foot North Pacific waves. A US Coast Guard Hercules plane led to Boutwell to recover remains. The crew was largely Taiwanese and Filipino.
