Indian school funds may be recovered
Federal funds for Minneapolis and St Paul Indian schools and Milwaukee Community School may be recovered after an audit of grant spendings. An OEO spokesman said a new channel could be found, but only after a completed audit. AIM members face allegations of misusing funds tied to the November BIA office takeover, which officials deny. The hearings, set for December 29 in Minneapolis, have been postponed twice. The Upper Midwest Amerian Indian program withdrew funding due to lacking financial information from the schools.

Irish girls write to Santa at New York post office
A Northern Ireland girl and an Irish Republic girl each sent letters addressed to Santa to the General Post Office in New York. Elyse Feldman, a New York high school teacher, answers about 50 letters yearly and arranged a gift party using some from the batch. The two seven year olds, Anna Maree McIvor from County Tyrone and Ethna Joyce from a Galway coast town, believed Santa could be reached through that address.
