Snowmobile noise limits proposed by MPIRG in Minnesota
MPIRG urged stricter snowmobile noise limits at a conference in St Paul proposing machines sold after June 30 1975 not exceed 90 decibels at the driver or 65 decibels at 50 feet. Earlier goals aimed for 73 decibels by June 30 1974 and current law allows 82 decibels at 50 feet. Dr W Dix on War warned unprotected riders should limit use to 30 minutes daily. Wearing earplugs and proper mufflers can reduce risk.
