A historical note claims that each American uses an average of three gallons of oil daily and that national use reaches 600 million gallons daily. It predicts this will double to six gallons per person daily by the time the child from Minnesota reaches age 15, warning that a country dependent on oil risks shortages.
Gov. Wendell Anderson announced a three to four year statewide Right to Read program starting next month with over 5 million dollars in funding. The plan targets 125000 severely reading deficient students out of about 1 million enrolled and rolls out in three phases across 1972 to 1973 with local demonstration districts and pilot classrooms beginning in 1973.

Wednesday Bethel Lutheran Church Women meet at 8 p m with program The Signs of Christmas and executive board at 7 p m. Mother Daughter Art Club Christmas party at Miss Ruth Lane 706 Bemidji Ave with 50 cent gift for needy family. Episcopal Church Women meet Dec 8 at 1 30 p m in Undercroft. Thursday WCTU meets at Mrs Ray Jennings 1221 Park Ave at 1 30 p m with devotions and Christmas program and gift exchange.
