Santas Raise the Bar for Holiday Hiring in California
In Palo Alto, Santa Claus standards are high this season as the Western Girl agency, run by Tressa Houck, places more than 400 Santas. Interviewing up to 1,200 children daily, they pay $3 an hour for six days a week. Santas must abstain from smoking and drugs, speak to children with patience, and deliver a uniform, consistent spiel while handling excited kids.
