The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources does not sell walleye eggs to other states. Years ago Minnesota traded a small number of walleye eggs for trout salmon and catfish eggs from other states, but no money changed hands.
In 1970 eight reports of meteorites in the area prompted a Bemidji State College physicist to investigate. No extraterrestrial evidence was found after overflights of Red Lake and a probe to an eight foot depth. A misleading Pioneer photo was actually taken at Charles Lake near Bagley. Warren Thomas of Moorhead State College also studied the night’s reports.

The Bemidji Pioneer reports two contestants for the Miss Bemidji Pageant on April 28. Deborah Jo Noble of Kelliher, sponsored by Security State Bank, is a Bemidji State College student majoring in business education and will perform a piano solo. Wendi Marty of Bemidji, sponsored by Johnson Corner Drug, is trained in secretarial studies and will dance a gymnastics routine.

The Minnesota Chippewa Tribe Executive Council will not renew leases for more than 600 non Indian tenants on six reservations including Nett Lake Tower Mille Lacs Leech Lake White Earth Grand Portage and Fond du Lac. Leases must be cleared within 60 days of expiry with brief extensions in select cases. The move aims to clear land for tourism development amidst claimed discrimination concerns.
Beltrami County weighing final approval of a new courts annex to be built next to the courthouse. Architect John Ivey Thomas of Thomas and Vecchi in Duluth to present final plans at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and seek advertising for bids funded by federal revenue sharing. The board will also open bids for a new county highway department leader.

The IRS ordered price rollbacks totaling 196 555 on auto parts from 318 Ford and GM dealers in Minnesota to comply with federal stabilisation pricing rules. Dealers must sell existing inventories at current prices before raising them, with no refunds but required refunds via discounts on current sales. Rollbacks apply to Ford parts sold after Dec 31 1971 and GM parts after Jan 3 1972.
