In Minnesota a Fight Inflation Together leader declares today a big test day for the meat boycott aimed at pressuring prices downward. Minnesota homemakers plan to pursue alternatives and protests at Bemidji supermarkets while Iowa beef plants suspend output to realign live cattle with wholesale prices.
Treasury Secretary Shultz told Congress he would not be surprised if President Nixon vetoes a bill for an across the board freeze on prices rents and interests. He urged Congress to extend the wage price control authority through April 30. The group pressed for a simple extension as food prices rise and wage talks loom. Weather forecast calls for a cloudy southeast with highs in the 40s to 50s and low 20s tonight.
South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu is set to meet President Nixon at the Western White House with expectations of assurances for ongoing American aid.
