In Fulton Missouri on August 21 a mob hanged Bolin a Black man who, with Henry Stewart, robbed Gail Hamilton of 13 dollars and murdered him three weeks earlier Stewart was captured and hanged by a mob the night after the killing Bolin was seized in Milan Tennessee and brought to Fulton where the mob killed him before police could place him in custody
An accident near Denton ten miles west of Lincoln occurred when the Denver flyer on the Burlington collided with an eastbound fast freight shortly before seven. Three men were injured, none fatally, and the freight locomotive was wrecked while the passenger engine was damaged. Main line traffic was halted for the night.

Gen Charles W Blair longtime Kansan and former legal official for Kansas City Port Scott Gulf railroad died at Coronado Beach near San Diego California at age 71 after a yearlong illness. He leaves four married daughters including the wife of Ford Harvey, son of Santa Fe dining manager.
Omaha reports the First Nebraska volunteers who reached San Francisco from Manila three weeks ago will return to Nebraska on a state funded special train. A total of 35000 dollars was raised by state newspapers, with loans from D. Ek Thompson and Edward Cudahy. Gov. Poynter secured the funds after several days of delay. The regiment will receive a state reception in Lincoln upon return, with each company to be welcomed in its home town.
London reports Admiral Dewey during a Naples visit said the Philippine issue would soon be resolved and that inhabitants were capable of self government. Madrid reports a plague case at Figueira Portugal and rumors of a death at Barcelona. Authorities fear the epidemic is spreading with several quarantine stations set up on the frontier.
Jefferson City Missouri August 21 State Labor Commissioner Thomas P Rixey finished the tabulation for the bureau annual surplus shipment map and expects distribution by September 15.
Secretary Root orders ten additional infantry volunteer regiments for the Philippines to strengthen Gen Otis. Regiments 58 through 67 will be formed at Fort Snelling Fort Crook Fort Riley Camp Meade Fort Ethan Allen Fort Leavenworth Jefferson Barracks South Framingham. Enlistment equipment and transport will be expedited to deploy as needed.
United States forces in Cuba will be brought home for rest and climate recovery. A battalion from each regiment may be absent at a time, then return to relieve comrades until all have rested in the United States. Troops remaining in Cuba will be enough to preserve order. Arrival sites to be decided.
Omaha reports Senator Hayward was much improved and moved from Brownville to his Nebraska City home by special train. Doctors deem him out of danger and progress continues.
Sheriff E C Mudd and Deputy Lindsey captured T R Freeman at Fanshawe, I T T status as Spottswood. Freeman, 38, murdered James Westbrook in Butler in 1869 after threatening him and shooting his victim through the gate. He was to hang December 17, 1869, but escaped two days earlier by tearing ceiling boards.
Chicago authorities shut two Chicago river bridges to traffic and condemned seven more as dangerous after a Calumet river bridge at Ninety-fifth street collapsed during repairs. Two additional bridges were deemed very suspicious and may close soon. Replacing or repairing all affected crossings will require at least 2 million dollars, with no appropriation available.
Southwestern Electric plans about 200000 dollars in improvements. Galena will receive a sub station car barns and several residences for employees. An extension to Riceville and possible lines to Baxter Columbus and Weir City are discussed. Pittsburg and Weir City already have an electric railway connection enabling hourly service among Pittsburg Weir City Columbus and Baxter.
