The Bedford community mourns the sudden death of Mr. Newkirk aged 55 formerly a section foreman on the Bedford & Cincinnati division. He moved to Indianapolis in August 1007. Survived by a wife and three children including a daughter. Funeral services were held at 4:5 afternoon at Walter Crawford’s residence, with interment following.

A 80 year old physician Dr A D Williams left for Indianapolis Monday to be examined by the State Board of Medical Registration Examination to determine if he may practice medicine under a license sued by the State of Indiana. Williams had practiced in Wisconsin and in Bedford for the past year his Bedford practice limited to eye and ear diseases where he is a specialist.
James E. Watson Republican candidate for governor will tour the southern part of the state on a special Friday and Saturday with thirty speeches planned. He will begin in Franklin on Friday and end with a monster meeting in Indianapolis Saturday night, speaking Friday in Evansville.
County Auditor Walter G Owens traveled to Cincinnati on Saturday to deliver 20000 dollars of Marshall township gravel road bonds to Rudolph Klevbelte Company, purchased earlier. The funds support construction of a new road in Reade township, contracted to McKee D Anderson.
