Bedford ministers watch from rear seats as pennants decorate the Auditorium walls. The Indiana W.O.T.U. convention draws more than 450 delegates, described as the largest ever held, with vibrant display and lively sidelight coverage.
The Thirty-fifth State Convention of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union opens in Bedford with Mrs. McCurdy of Richmond as the first colored delegate addressing white sisters on uplifting her race and attacking drink. Delegates from 92 counties attend. reports show saloons banished and membership rising as committees organize for statewide prohibition efforts.

Delegates praised a Sunday mass meeting pledge of 2054.58 for state prohibition work and endorsed an executive committee call to raise 5000 for the campaign. A mothers meeting discussion touched sidewalk roller skating by girls, dress length, and discipline. A remark supported avoiding Mrs Winslow's syrup due to opium content. State L T L officers from Bedford were introduced by Miss Ida Mix.
A Sunday mass meeting at the Christian church in Bedford featured Rev. Dr. E L Eaton of Evanston IL as principal speaker on prohibition progress. Mrs Culla J Wayhinger presided and $2 054.58 was raised, led by John A Rowe with a $100 pledge, the largest ever for state prohibition efforts.
President Mrs Culla J Wayhinger leads as president with Mrs Icebeth Stanley as vice president. Miss Mary Ke Woodward serves as corresponding secretary and Miss Clara M Sears as treasurer. Recording secretary is Mrs Rose Pearce. Continued on page 4 column.
