Fight for Aguinaldo by Maurice Thompson in Boston address
Indiana author Maurice Thompson, known for his national fame, argued against Aguinaldo and for loyalty to the U S flag. In Boston and later Crawfordsville, he urged Americans not to praise Aguinaldo over Washington, stating treason lies in opposing the flag and defending freedom through steadfast patriotism. He praised the bravery of those who fought for the country and warned that anyone aiding rebels harms liberty.

Evidence of Democratic incompetency in Indianapolis politics
A political letter argues that Indianapolis under Democratic mayor Tom Taggart and city attorney John W. Kern has depleted the treasury, issued 650000 in bonds, and relied on monthly borrowing. It contrasts Republican state governance, which reports debt reduction and bond payoffs, with alleged Democratic extravagance and public fund raids. The piece cites figures on state debt relief and bond payments, ending with a Bryan quotation from Knoxville, Tennessee.

Farmers Institute at Fayetteville Delights Local Farmers
An interesting and profitable Farmers Institute was held in the new Fayetteville hall last Saturday. The morning attendance was light due to gloomy weather, but the afternoon drew a larger crowd with the ladies in the majority. W. C. Pitman called the meeting to order. John Pinkton served as Chairman and Livia Adamson as Secretary. Uncle Joe Burton spoke on fruit growing with samples on display and apples selling at 300 per barrel. M. F. Dunn discussed grape culture and showed fine fruit specimens, with Mr. Moore assisting. Dunn joked that apples are God’s fruit and the apple man helps God produce them. In the afternoon Robert Duncan spoke on profitable corn and fodder handling, Cole Duncan on clover, and Z. H. Adamson on pumpkins, squashes, and remarkable corn plants. Uncle Joe Burton closed with an engaging talk. Obed Lamb showed fruit, corn, and peanuts. Lamb was named permanent President of Indian Creek township and W. E. Kern Secretary. The institute adjourned to Tweet in August 1901.
