Governor Ralston orders the entire Indiana National Guard to Indianapolis to contain rioting after street car workers strike. About 3,800 soldiers mobilize to safeguard cars and streets, with injuries reported among strikebreakers and rioters.
Mary F. Burton filed for legal separation in Lawrence circuit court. The suit cites marriage on January 15 1880 and separation October 15 1913, claims cruel and inhuman treatment, intoxication, threats, a 1913 gun incident, and asks for custody of Harley Raymond Hallie and Addie, while alleging lack of support for two years.
At the adjourned council session last night the opening of 6th Street across the C. I. & L. railway was approved and adopted. Only a few claims were ordered paid as the sole item on the agenda. The regular meeting night fell on election day, so the meeting was postponed and lasted until shortly after 9 p.m.
The Globe Democrat notes that Tuesday returns show little appetite to support Woodrow Wilson. In Massachusetts and New Jersey, Democratic candidates trailed or narrowly won amid divided opposition, while New York saw a Republican advance and Progressives align with the GOP, signaling repudiation of Wilsonian policies rather than a broad endorsement.

The funeral for Beulah McGuire Schmidt of Terre Haute was held at the grandmother’s home on South N street with Rev. Halberstadt and Rev. A E Dubber presiding. Pallbearers were relatives A W Richardson Wilmot Laforce Fred Edward Diehl Richardson and Horace Richardson. six girl friends served as honorary pallbearers. Interment followed at Green Hill Cemetery.
Lawrence County Medical Society convened at City Hall with strong attendance as physicians discussed local health issues and ongoing community services. Doctors from multiple practices gathered to review public health initiatives and upcoming events.
A well attended session of the Lawrence county Medical Society convened Thursday in City Hall with many local physicians and several guests from nearby towns. Out of town attendees included Drs. Burns and Sherwood of Mitchell Dr. J T Mc Farlin of Williams and Dr. Perry Woolery of Heltonville.
Local offices of the Southern Indiana Power company are being prepared for removal to Bloomington and the move is expected to occur at once. Mrs. John Risch, guest of Miss Lizzie Hoppingarner for ten days, has returned to Vincennes.
Teachers and classes from Leatherwood church gathered Sunday for a surprise farewell dinner at S A Bartlett’s home. Mrs Bartlett anticipated the visit with a threshing dinner, serving a bountiful array of foods. Over sixty neighbors attended as Brother Jackson Younger offered thanks, and the Bartletts prepared to move to a new home. The community shared best wishes and noted the loss to the church and Sunday School.
John P Wicker, farmer near Stonington, suffered a third major loss by fire in three years. A large barn filled with hay and grain burned, two horses and eight cattle perished, with partial insured value on barn and stock. Losses also hit earlier barns on the same farm, leading to suspicions of arson in the latest blaze. Insurance will likely cover about half the value.
The Woman's Local Council met at the Presbyterian church on Wednesday for a business session with reports on children's gardens and tubercular work. A garbage system study was assigned and concerns over cinema moral environment were addressed, with funds reported at 61.25 in treasury and 92 in the Tubercular Fund.
