Utica New York October 31 James Schoolcraft Sherman vice president of the United States died of uremic poisoning at 9 42 o clock last evening He had been unconscious since Tuesday noon and doctors announced that uremia had laid deadly hold on the patient Mrs Sherman and her two sons were at his bedside Born in Utica October 24 1855 he rose from Utica attorney to congressman and then to the vice presidency His death leaves the nation without a vice president until March 4 1913 and the senate lacks a president pro tempore as talks of replacement unfold.

He was found unconscious in the barn yard by his family while feeding chickens and died soon after. He was born March 30 1869 in Lawrence county and married Mattie Dunlap. survived by eight children Fay Ora Ray Laura Zoe Ina Joe, two brothers Joe and Frank Snow, and sister Mrs Nellie Wilson. Funeral service Saturday at 9:30 at the residence, interment Bryantsville.

A burglar cracked the Collins meat market on South I Street Wednesday night, taking about two dollars from an open money drawer left for change. Entrance was gained by cutting a back door screen, climbing a twenty foot wall into the rear yard. Bloodhounds trail led west to Washington Avenue but ended near the former Joe Snow store.
