Indiana music box case tests Nicholson law reach
The state argues in Edward Collins v Indiana that 1905 statutes did not repeal criminal provisions restricting music boxes in saloons. Attorney General Miller contends the Nicholson law remains in force to strengthen liquor regulation, while the appellant claims the music clause is outside the 1905 codifications. If upheld, the ruling could deal a blow to temperance efforts and the Nicholson act’s enforcement.
