The Chicago Board of Trade opened with a sensational surge in wheat as July and September options jump about 4 cents with December up 14 to 8 cents from last Saturday’s close. Buyers from across the United States flood in, shorts cover, and a strong underwriting demand drives prices higher before profit-taking trims gains. Reports from West and Northwest indicate weather damage and insect losses tighten supply while European markets react to Russia and potential U.S. exports.
