Leig Brothers killed a 125 pound black female hog raised near Silverville that bore five well developed feet. The right front leg forked above the hoof with two feet used in walking while the left front foot had five toes. In other respects the hog was normal.
A local woman saved money earned from washing to buy a cow. Yesterday the husband allegedly took the cow, sold it, and spent the money on liquor, prompting calls for stronger laws to curb such behavior.
Dr Hurty, secretary of the State Board of Health, will push a bill for medical exams of school children in the next legislature. He said in Terre Haute last week he found fifteen defective children and others with tuberculosis. a Gentry dog performed a rope hanging act outside the new Gentry building yesterday.
In Bloomington on Feb 29 a large rat attacked eight year old daughter of blacksmith John Knight as she slept, biting and lacerating her ear. The father awoke to the struggle, freed his daughter, and the rat fled in the ensuing confusion.
Big Bob Wicker will coach Indiana University pitchers this spring for five weeks starting next Monday, with Eddie Boyle taking over afterward. Wicker, a former major league star, previously led IU and remains popular on campus.
Judge Wilson on Friday named new members to the Lawrence County Board of Charities and Correction. Appointees include Mrs C. B. Norton Miss Lillian Voris Mrs E W Shirk H P Pearson Charles H Strupe and E J Stalker.
Mrs. Edward Southers entertained about forty friends Saturday evening in honor of Mr. Southers anniversary. An orchestra provided music and euchre was the main activity. A menu of sandwiches salad pickles sauce cake and coffee was served.

The fish seizure from White River will aid poor families, with seining begun in Indianapolis to remove carp and other undesirable species.
Thomas O Connell, age about seventy eight, died after a long illness in Greencastle Indiana. He built a fortune estimated over fifty thousand dollars from a bootshop and supported local causes including Indiana Asbury University. He may have heirs in Bedford. funeral is set for St Pauls Catholic Church. Mike O Connell and sister Mary travel from Bedford to attend.
The mock trial featured C. C. Carter as plaintiff against Merchants Bank with Harry Quackenbush and C. L. Walters for the plaintiff and Miss Genevieve Iseminger and Leland Campbell for the defense. Judge Maude Mullings presided as the jury returned a verdict for the plaintiff after spirited debates and praised student attorneys Iseminger Campbell and Quackenbush.
In the circuit court the Alvis administratrix and the B or O railroad settled for 1000 dollars. The plaintiff is the widow of John Alvis who was killed at Mitchell while crossing the tracks to board a Monon train bound for Orleans about a year ago.
