Alpha Cox in Seymour Democrat recounts a long hidden incident near Courtland where Jesse Tabor killed the Shawnee chief Killbuck during a hunt after resisting the chief’s bid for Tabor’s prized rifle. Tabor buried Killbuck’s body and disposed of the rifle to conceal the tragedy, a story preserved by local memory. Miss Mary Day, after serious illness, is able to be out again.

Tragic train accident ends life of Emery L. Tizell in New Albany
Emery L. Tizell 25 a brakeman on the Monon died after being dragged by a train near North Vincennes street crossing in New Albany. He fell between cars while walking the train, gripped a brake rod, and was dragged nearly 100 yards before release. He died six hours after admission to hospital. His home was Orleans, Indiana, where his body was taken today.
