Investigation into Wednesday’s boiler plate explosion at a city machine shop reveals extensive destruction. Fire damage scattered across the Murphy Shoe Store adjacent space. workers including Cleum Murphy survived with facial burns and minor injuries. State inspectors and local investigators examine wreckage and witness accounts to determine the cause.
A welding machine explosion at a local shop injuries. the blast hurled a worker near the forge and lathe. Owner Charles Harbaugh reports no reopening plans for days. stock losses covered by $4500 insurance. Witnesses say several welders may abandon similar machines after the incident.
The funeral for James Schooley, killed in the Tarbaugh and Schooley repair shop explosion on Wednesday, will be Friday at 2 pm from his Louk Street home. The Loyal Order of Moose will conduct services. burial is at Green Hill. Relatives have arrived. Mrs Helle Sullivan of Bell Point is expected today. Schooley left a life insurance policy with the Loyal Order of Moose and Knights and Ladies of Honor memberships noted in the report.

Mr James Walton and Mrs Mary Ard were married in Indianapolis last Thursday and will reside near Campbellsburg. Ard, formerly of this city, has many friends here. Walton is a prominent farmer. the couple visited locally before departing to make their home, with friends wishing them happiness.
Miss Zella Crabb residing with Mr and Mrs Campbell Fields West Twenty first street was summoned from Koleen by the sudden death of her grandfather Alexander Wright during the night. She plans to remain until funeral services likely Saturday.
Special Judge Albert Fields overruled the motion for a new trial in the Kendall and Belding adultery case. The defendants from Crothersville were fined 250 dollars and 100 days in jail each. They gave 500 dollar bonds for appeal to the Supreme Court.
Mrs Jane Sears 83 died at her daughter’s home near Coxton Tuesday night after a general breakdown from old age. Born in North Carolina she lived in the county 25 years. Survived by son Homer Sears and daughter Mrs Clara Munson. Funeral held at Owensburg Thursday at 11 morning with burial there.
Mrs. Charles Harbaugh and her mother Mrs. Anna EE Anderson leave for Inn Illinois to visit relatives for a few days. Miss Mary Terbeck travels to Gosport to spend Thursday.

Mrs. Mary Naffee eighty nine year old resident for five years of Hamilton township died after weeks with arteriosclerosis. Born in Germany September 27 1824 she married Gottlieb Naffee in 1861 and lived near Columbus Indiana before moving to Hamilton township. Survived by sons Henry of Cortland and John Avers of Toledo twelve grandchildren eight great grandchildren. Funeral Thursday at 11 from home and 2 from White Creek German M E church burial nearby. Relatives from Louisville and Bedford expected.
Fred Speck Booter, once with the Champs and Athletics and a Kitty League star, injured his ankle in Terre Haute leading to retirement. He now owns the Star Restaurant at 1283 Lafayette Avenue, taking possession after purchasing from Carl Connley. Booter remains connected to baseball in name and hometown pride.
After a long session the jury in the Bloomington Southern versus John Ramsay condemnation suit returned with a verdict for Ramsay of 1937 dollars. An earlier appraisal award of 1250 dollars was rejected by both sides and the case moved here on change of venue from Monroe county. Ramsay's farm lies southwest of Clear Creek.
Police shadow local characters in the Littelier robbery as an arrest or two is expected within twenty four hours. One suspect fled at four Sunday morning and slept in clothes. Another two men seen together Saturday are missing from home and haunts. Police believe the safe was blown by city thugs.
