Farmers Institute at Tunnelton Report Highlights Farm Practices
Mr. T A Stockwell opened with insights on improving worn farms and profitability through a four year wheat and clover rotation, top dressing with manure, and avoiding plowing under manure. Laura G Day warned of poor ventilation and waterborne germs affecting health, urging cleaner water and odor control. Stockwell noted many county rulers grew up rural, while Billingsly urged three daily milkings for fresh cows and udder care. Hamer praised cement uses for farm buildings, and Chess named Leghorn and Plymouth Rock as best layers with daily egg collection. Stockwell contrasted Indiana climate as favorable for farming investments against California with its dusty dry season and rainy, cool weather. R S Duncan, Sec.
