The Sharpsburg WCTU met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs Elizabeth Penne baker with Mrs Marjorie Kraushaar presiding De votions were led by Lela Rutledge and Mrs Carrie Pinney served as secretary Thirteen members attended and one new member Mrs Susie Olinger joined The library program was outlined with Ella Young and Lela Rutledge named to the committee and a drive planned for more books. Notable attendees included Mrs Robt Blair Mrs Thurman Curphy and Miss Leona Blood among others.

Old Farmer G W Michael Keeps Cultivating 70 Years
Waverly Kansas resident G W Michael 79 recalls starting at nine in Iowa with a single horse cultivator in 1869. He has lived across several states, endured minimal illness, and continued full days in the fields tending 45 to 80 acres despite heat and past injuries. He has two marriages and six children plus a daughter Lorraine.

New Two Year Non-Degree Agriculture Course at ISU Ames
Iowa State College at Ames offers a Two Year Non-Degree Program in Agriculture designed for farm boys to gain college work and return to farming. The curriculum covers animal husbandry engineering crops botany chemistry English horticulture and electives with a January 3 winter quarter start. The program provides flexible start times and a descriptive folder is available from the county agent. A Herdsmen's course also offers six months of livestock judging feeding breeding care and management with milk testing and crop production.

Nodaway Women Study Home Projects Begin
Four all day meetings in Nodaway township begin the year long home project work on Selection and Preparation of Poultry. Dinner was served at noon and a lively afternoon discussion followed. Seven ladies met at Mrs Wayne Firkins, plus thirteen at Mrs Ralph Wilson, and nine at Mrs Henry French with lessons by various presenters.

Thompson Resigns As School Secretary
John W. Thompson retires after six years as secretary of the Conway school district with forty years total service. He remains as lumber yard manager in Conway and has also served as ICofF opera house manager and lodge secretary. Thompson and Anna Daniels mark their fifty ninth wedding anniversary this December 24.
