Lenox Woman Bertha Pardum Purdum Dies After Stroke
Bertha Pardum Purdum died last Thursday at Community Hospital after a stroke. Funeral services were held Sunday at United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Monevary officiating. Burial was in Lenox cemetery. She was a widow from Lenox, survived by three daughters Lucy Lewis of Des Moines, Lucille Goldsmith of Corn, and Mrs. Harry Leach of Lenox, plus Raymond, Clifford, and Dale of Lenox and many grandchildren.

James McManus 69 Dies After Stroke In Creston
James McManus, 69, died after a stroke at Greater Community hospital in Creston. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Lenox with Rev. Father Adam Reisz officiating. Burial followed in St. Patrick's cemetery. He lived with his brother in law and sister, Louis and Mrs Vanderpluym, nine miles southeast of Lenox, and is survived by two brothers, Tom of Lenox and Mike of near Diagonal.

A group of title girls organized a junior girls 4 H club for ages six to 11 in Grove township at Twila Welch home. Betty Hardisty and Twila Welch named the club Little Sisters Pass for Friendship with Zanette Perdue as president and Mary Alice Westlake as vice president.
